One of Steve's visions was that we can ALL be visionaries. Just heard him giving his address to one meeting drumming home his thoughts on not putting up with the status quo.

Sad, yes. Happy that the World is buckets better he ranged over it. Last of the real visionaries? I think he'd have something to say about that Tom? But your sentiments are well meant and understood.

Hey, what do you think he'd be doing now with all them White Clouds?!? iCloud?

People can say what they say, but Steve was a visionary, perfectionist and an admirable person. He knew what the masses wanted - gadgets that are simple to use and just simply works. He was able to create devices that at the same time appealed to the more demanding nerds, devices that always had cutting edge technology inside. Apple's strength has always been the complete control of OS and hardware - together.

I feel really sad for his passing. Apple will survive, but they lost a big Icon... Rest in peace, Steve - you will be remembered.

Steve's biographer says that he was not like DaVinci or Edison (two comparisons often suggested) but like Howard Hughes in being a charismatic leader of brilliant people developing a broad range of products. His strength was in marketing and in recognising great ideas, in identifying products that people wanted before they knew they wanted them, and in getting those products to the market. Not all his initiatives were successful, but by his successes he will be remembered.
