Layout by date/time in file name?

So I got some multi-cam footage taken with CX560s that were all GPS synchronized
to the same time and date. I imported the footage using the Vegas 10e device explorer
window and the mts files appeared in the capture folder. As usual, the
'Layout by Date/Time" function doesn't work on these files. I think I got that feature
to work once in Vegas 8 or something and I've never had it work again.

Is there a script that will look at the filenames in the Project Explorer and
Layout things correctly?

Did you get PMB (Picture Motion Browser) with your CX560s? If so, you can use it to transfer files from your camera to computer. In the process, the files are renamed to shooting date and time. Long clips that have been split into 2GB max chunks will also be glued back together again. It is then a trivial matter to sort them chronologically.
