Subject:AP7 Issue: Main window out of focus times to times

Hello everyone,

I still have this issue with AP7 having its main window out of focus times to times (well it tends to be very much often actually).

What I mean by out of focus :
It means that when Acid Pro 7's window is not the "active" window anymore (the top bar is grayed out just like I was taking care of another window in Windows), so when I hit the space bar, nothing happens b/c Acid is not the active application, and I have to re-clic somewhere on the grid to recapture the focus on Acid and hit the space bar again to play.

Anyone having the same issue ?

Rather than using the spacebar for start/stop (which as you have discovered only works when the timeline is the active window), you might prefer to use F12 which works whichever window has the focus.

Mark,

Thanks for your reply ! I already knew about the F12 command key to trigger Play.

The issue is that this issue where AP7 looses its focus is for the whole application : for any action I have to perform, such as selecting a track, editing a clip, and so on, I always have to clic 2 times one time to re-focus to AP7, and the second time to make it work.

So the issue is still time consuming and can cause some major problem in my workflow.

AP7 is installed on WinXP SP3 and there's no other services / programs running with it that might interfere with AP7, so I guess it could be a small bug.

That s normal behaviour in Windows when you click on alternative window, or a dialogue grabs the focus (if you have that Win option set). Pop-up dialogues can end up behind your main window - checkthe taskbar for new icons.

In previous Windows versions you can install MS Tweakui, and set X-Mouse emulation, where window focus follows the mouse pointer - an essential tweak in any multi-detatchable-window application I think.

This is native in WIn7 [link]http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9000-mouse-hover-makes-window-active-enable.html .

Thanks Geoff !

Well I do have TweakUI installed (you cand download it here), and enabled X-Mouse setting into Mouse > X-Mouse > [tick] Activation Follows Mouse.

But Acid still looses focus, yet I can clearly see it fights again the X-Mouse activation settings (it's quite cool actually to see the Acid windows blink like crazy when fighting with the activation of X-Mouse).

It would've been a good workaround but it's not working properly unfortunately.

PS : I don't have any floating windows, everything is docked in the docklet right under the timeline.

So... No solution ? Not even a workaround ?

And checking there is no pop-up dialogue stealing focus (sometimes these can not show a taskbar icon, so when your focus goes try ALT/Tab to see if there is something hiding underneath). Could even be one (authorisation ?) from a VST(i).

Full uninstall and clean reinstall would be my next suggestion.

Thanks Geoff for your time,

Well I actually just did a clean install b/f reinstalling AP7, making sure each VSTi/VSTfx has been registered for this machine.

I'm going to double check tough !

Let me guess, after what you'd ve suggested me to buy a new PC ^^ Just kidding with you !
