Vegas Replaced The Footage Poll

i am erikd wrote on 8/30/2011, 11:19 PM
Well, we have certainly heard this mantra for the past couple of years, "If they can not reproduce the bug, help them." The story goes that SCS just can't figure out this problem and in a way it is not really their fault because they can't repro the issue. I believe this bug to be the most serious KNOWN bug in Vegas for at least the past couple of years and so far nothing from SCS.

Maybe this problem is much more common than Sony would like to believe.
I want to know what percentage of Vegas users on this forum who HAVE experienced this problem at one time or another. Please put an x besides the appropriate answer below.

It has happened to me three or more times-

It has happened to me two times-

It has happened to me only once-

It has never happened to me-

Thanks Kimberly, I removed my X from the original post so that other responders posts won't look confusing. Sorry about that.

There is no option for three times! Did you mean three or more times?

Right PeterDuke, I have edited it to say three or more. Thanks.

P.S. I submitted bug report, and SCS was able to re-create the problem on their system using my veg file and media files. However they were not able to determine the cause or the fix.

In the other thread on this problem, I just asked a series of questions designed to pinpoint a common setup. This is done not only to help Sony fix the problem, but also to perhaps find a temporary way to avoid the problem. One answer common to everyone who is having the problem is that they are using the 64-bit version of Vegas, and are running under Windows 7. They also have the "Close media files when not the active application" option checked (it's in the Options -> Preferences -> General tab).

So, for those of you who have experienced the problem:

Are you using the 64-bit version of Vegas?
Are you using Windows 7?
Do you have the "Close media files when not the active application" enabled (checked)?

Note: I just had it happen on an audio only file which was a first. It happened on two music tracks on different parts of the timeline.

However... on one project (ever) I had some media that was sped up. When I went to render to new track. Vegas made it strobe of frame-black-frame-black-etc. Only on that one instance of Vegas where everything I rendered to new track did that. Very frustrating.
