Subject:Extract Regions Problem

I was happily using the Extract Regions" on several files with normal results then it stopped working properly when the "Use Long File Names ..." was checked. I get an error stating that there is a error saving the files then another message "There are x jobs remaining in the queue. Do you want to continue?" (X = number of regions) When I chose continue it saves the regions with two or three characters of the first region name overwriting each file as it saves them to the same file name. For example Hannah and James 01 becomes Ha.wav then Hanna and James 02 becomes Ha.wav and overwrites the first region. (01 John became Joh.wav) This happens whether I keep the prefix or delete it.

I copied the file to another computer with sound forge and the Extract Regions worked normally. I have the current version 10.c. I downloaded a new copy and installed it with no effect. Any clues as to the problem?

I should also add that if I don't check the Use Long File Names box (I.e. using the short names option) extract regions works fine.

10 hours later.

Yesterday following this problem there was a Windows update for Windows Defender and Office 2007. Today the problem is gone. I have no explanation other than it was a Windows 7 problem not a Sound Forge problem but SF was affected. I just hope it doesn't come back.
