I've been pissed off when all my work has been simply deleted when this error occurs. It's happening while saving a lot of files, when a lot of files is open and i edit one of them, when i press "play clipboard" button (it's only happen once) and so on.... Please someone tell me what's wrong.

Thanks, Vladimir.

You've listed no system information at all. What OS are you using? What are the specs of your computer? What audio interface are you using? There may be an answer that coincides with your hardware or OS.

Rob.

Hey Rob,

specs are:

Windows XP Pro
SP 3
AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual 4000+
2.11GHz, 2.00GB of RAM

sound card is soundMax Integrated Digital DH Audio

I was googling around and i can't find any update for sound forge 9.0. Is there any?
According to this error log, i assume that problem is "mp3plug2.dll" but i don't know how to solve it because we have two copies of SF 9.0 and both have same problem.

Thanks.

Certainly looks like something wrong there. Have you installed an external version of the same encoder I wonder ?

What did Tech Support say when you logged all this here:

4 x SF9 updates here:

Thank you Geoff,

but i dislike that Sony's knowledge base is focused on Vegas :(

You get past the KnowledgeBase prompts and log the problem directly by the form that comes available after the KB bits..

Your crash is possibly due to a video driver problem.
There may be more than one version of MSVCR80.dll floating around your system, and the one Sound Forge needs may have been replaced or gone wonky.

The steps I would take in order are:
1) Create a system restore point or backup
2) Reinstall video card drivers with the latest version
3) Reinstall DirectX if necessary
4) Reinstall Sound Forge if necessary
5) Try a different video card if all else fails

That being said, I don't recall ever having a crash or blue screen with Sound Forge, and my ownership history goes back to Sound Forge XP 4.5, twelve years ago (I still have the installation disc, it was a great program).

yaaa, good old versions :D

thanks for your advice, i've reinstalled SF, well, actually i've installed, thanks to Geoff, an updated version 9 and for now it's working. I just wonder if it will crash again...

Save your work more often. I leaned that the hard way.
I've experienced occasional lock-ups of SF since v8, however I don't recall any version of SF crashing the OS. I've been a 'user' since 4.5 also.

And I *still* use 4.5 on Windows 7 64-bit, along with CDA 4. No issues at all.

@rraud,

it's crashing during the saving process :)

it's OK saving project more often, i must get use to it. Well, it's not crashing since reinstall but we must be more careful now.
