Can materieal already in HD(AVCHD) (1980*1024) be "smart rendered", so vegas does not have to transcode again ? For clips that has not been change but just want to joined to other clips

Short answer is no. AVCHD has a GOP that can be over 300 frames in length, so the re-indexing task is quite complex. Sony is working on it though.

In the meantime your best be is to download the trial of VideoRedo TVSuite h.264 version and see how it works for you.

I think thisis already available in Vegas Pro .

This feature is already available in products similarly priced products to VMS (Powerdirector) so I suspect it is only a matter of time before it appears in VMS (10.1 11.0?)
