Vegas Pro 10.0a/b/c JVC HDV capture problem

Ciao,

I'm experiencing some problems capturing HDV footage from JVC HDV camcorders (HD100E, 110, 111E and 200EB).

HDV/SDI tool can control the camcorder, but when I start capturing or playback a tape Vegas crash with error like this:

VEGAS PRO HAS STOPPED WORKING
SHOW:
PROB. UNMANAGED EXCEPTION (0xc0000005)
Fault Add: 0x000000014078F97B
Fault Offset: 0x000000000078F97B

I tried on 3 different computers with WinXP 32bit SP3 and Windows 7 32/64bit, also with last 10.0b and 10.0c update and STOP, FAST FORWARD/REVERSE buttons works, crash comes only with RECORD and PLAY buttons.
Using same tool in Vegas Pro 8/9 all works good.

Anyone can confirm this problem with JVC HDV camcorders?

Ciao

I can confirm exactly this behavior in 10a, haven't tried it yet in 10b (I'm out of town). GY-HD110U, 27" iMac, Win 7, 10a x64.

Works fine in 9c so keep it around.

Ciao,

Thanks Nick, I use HDVSplit often, but I want to understand why in VP9 HDV capture from JVC Camcorders works fine, instead of VP10 that crash just playing a tape!

Ciao

Ciao,

No more users with JVC HDV camcorder and Vegas Pro 10??
I have the same behaviour with 10.0c update!

I've also had capture problems in Vegas 10. I've been trying to use my Canon GL2 as a passthrough device, with a DVD/VCR hooked up to it.

In capture mode, the window will briefly show the screen image, then go blank, with none of the transport controls working or the capture buttons being clickable.

I switched to Adobe's OnLocation from the CS4 suite, and with the same setup, it recognized the video signal passing through and captured the video just fine.

I'm with a lot of you folks, Version 7 was the most stable of the Vegas programs I've ever used. From version 8 on, it has been one set of nightmares after another in expecting what was once a great program to work without incident. Version 9 was a total waste of money, and I hope the same conclusion is not reached about version 10.

It seems there are not a lot of companies out there today that no longer care about Quality Control or customer service, putting there resources instead into slick marketing and flashy PR to gloss over legitimate consumer complaints.

I'm a fool for voting to support these practices with my money. We all are.

Pmooney:

I disagree with you.

Version 8.0c was the last stable version.

IMO, Vegas has never been a good capture tool for any HDV. For my JVC camera, I use the antique JVC HDV capture application.
