Here is the info you have been waiting for>

Vegas Pro 10 Feature Highlights

-- Stereoscopic 3D Editing: Vegas Pro 10 facilitates the creation of 3D
projects by enabling users to import, adjust, edit, preview and export
stereoscopic 3D projects natively without any additional tools or
plug-ins. These new features and workflow updates make working in 3D as
seamless as working in 2D. While fully compatible with the latest 3D
screen technology, anaglyphic viewing is also supported, making it
possible to preview 3D on any monitor.
-- Improved Closed Captioning: Improved support for closed captions enables
broadcasters to preview captions in the Video Preview and Trimmer
windows for increased accuracy and ease of editing. Other improvements
include increased support for line 21 closed captions, HD SDI closed
captions, multiple closed captioning file types, as well as the ability
to export captions for Sony DVD Architect(TM), YouTube(TM), RealPlayer®,
QuickTime(TM), and Windows Media Player®.
-- Workflow Tools and Enhancements:Sony has also introduced the following
updates to Vegas Pro 10:
o Expanded Multicam Functionality: Updated multicam features provide a
more robust editing and preview experience by offering the ability to
view the multicam source clips and the full-screen edited program
output simultaneously
o Improved support for DSLR video: Performance improvements make editing
video from popular DSLR cameras faster and easier
o Track Grouping: This update offers a quick and easy way to organize
and manage complex projects by grouping related sections of
video/audio for a cleaner working environment
o Advanced Transport Controls: UI modifications offer efficient access
to important editing tools, providing a more intuitive workflow while
improving overall productivity
-- Image Stabilization: New stabilization tools greatly reduce jittery or
shaky video sometimes caused by hand held recording.
-- Video Plug-in SDK: Video Effects Plug-in Architecture: Vegas Pro 10 now
offers a completely new video effects plug-in architecture based on the
Open Effects Association standard. This industry-leading standard was
created from the combined experience of the leading companies in the
visual effects industry. The new architecture is accessed by a new
software development kit (SDK), which reduces the developer's workload
by automating UI integration. These features will benefit editors by
greatly expanding the available visual effects plug-ins available for
Vegas Pro 10.
-- Enhanced Audio Tools: In addition to the Dolby Digital Professional(TM)
5.1 surround sound production capabilities of Vegas Pro, the upcoming
version includes the following new features:
o Audio Event FX: For more precise control over the placement of audio
effects, Vegas Pro 10 allows editors to assign audio effects at the
master output, bus level, track level and now at the event level for
greater flexibility when working with multitrack projects.
o Input Busses: Input Busses now enable editors to record, mix and
monitor audio from external hardware devices.
o VU meters: The Vegas Pro Mixing Console view becomes even more
powerful with the addition of new VU meters.
o Track Meters: Track Meters provide direct feedback and a faster
editing workflow throughout the record, edit and mix process.
-- GPU Accelerated AVC Encoding: Users with CUDA-enabled nVidia video cards
are now able to encode to the Sony AVC format with improved rendering
performance and speed.
-- Device Support:Sony continues to add expanded device support with each
new version including HD-SDI adapters, Sony NXCAM cameras, and broader
support for DVD and Blu-ray Disc(TM) drives.

I like multicam enhancements, track grouping and track meters. Great enhancements

Big question is, will Preview-Play of SD footage be jitter free? My V9 is virtually unused because of that.

Why is there no mention of this on SCS's own site?

I wonder what percentage of Vegas Pro users are shooting in 3D?

How many posts have there been over the years with people wishing that SCS would fix the issues the program has before adding any new bells and whistles?

Several juicy features. Credit Card at the ready.

I like the sound (unintended pun) of the new Audio FX - I assume this means we will be able to hear as we tweak at Event level, including keyframes. If this is so, this is great.

... and interesting to hear what the new Plug-in SDK* will mean.

*edit - SDK, not SFK!

From the link that Yarin gave.

Genlock for AJA Video Devices
Genlock settings provide three options to synchronise the output of AJA video devices to a reference signal; Video In, Ref In, and Free Run.

Added support for 50p and 60p projects
Users now have a solution for editing 50p or 60p files. Supported 50p or 60p file formats include HD 720-50p (1280x720, 50fps), HD 720-60p (1280x720, 59.94fps), HD 720-50p YUV, HD 720-60p YUV.

New Print to Tape Options
The Print to Tape wizard has been updated, enabling users with the ability to change the location for creating pre-rendered files, for example to to an alternate drive (such as a RAID drive) rather than the boot drive.

Broadcast Wave Format metadata
Vegas Pro 10 offers Save audio files with Broadcast Wave Metadata when recording *.wav files in Vegas Pro 10. This data provides information that that is used to synchronise audio data in Vegas Pro 10 or other 3rd party applications.

GPU Accelerated AVC Encoding
Vegas Pro 10 includes support for GPU-accelerated AVC rendering using the Sony AVC plug-in. Users with a CUDA-enabled NVIDIA® video card are able to encode to the Sony AVC format using GPU-accelerated rendering providing improved AVC rendering performance and speed, which allows final projects to be published faster than ever before. (GPU-accelerated AVC rendering requires NVIDIA driver 185.xx or later. We recommend using a GeForce 9 Series or newer GPU. GPU-accelerated rendering performance will vary depending on your specific hardware configuration. If you have an older CPU and a newer NVIDIA GPU, rendering using the GPU may improve render times.)

Improved QuickTime AVC Decode
Performance and scalability improvement for QuickTime AVC files.

AVCHD Timecode Support
AVCHD timecode support allows the extraction and reporting of timecode from AVCHD files written by supported camcorders such as the Sony NXCAM. This support allows for more precise logging, editing and synchronising with other media.

Cineform support
Vegas Pro 10 provides support for reading and rendering CineForm AVI and QuickTime MOV files when you have a CineForm product installed. This enables decoding of the Cineform Neo 3D file format, a popular dual-stream (left-eye / right-eye stream) 3D format for native playback and editing of 3D files on the Vegas Pro timeline. (Need CineForm Version 5.1 for Vegas Pro 10. CineForm earlier version require Vegas Pro 9)

Guessing that SFK will mean that we can render out flash?
PeterDuke wrote on 9/10/2010, 4:52 AM
What, no smart rendering of AVCHD yet?

well i don't want to be a party-pooper, but 3d!? i mean really....

this is one release i'm going to wait till at least b comes out, or even not bother with at all.

i can appreciate the audio and to some extent the dslr / avchd improvements, but the hoopla over 3d makes me cringe a little.

with all the request there's been here for locking tracks and a number of other things, i think we could have at least expected a 'catch-up' rather than a boldly go where no nle has gone, etc.,

perhaps i'm just getting cynical in my old age....

TheHappyFriar wrote on 9/10/2010, 5:14 AM
only thing on there that I'd say would be worth the upgrade is the new plugin SDK... *IF* companies start making plugins for Vegas.

But no 7.1 audio? We get 3D, which VERY few people even can use but no 7.1 audio?

All these "gee-wiz" things but none of the basics?

Great news and includes architect new version.
From the website:

Vegas Pro 10 includes 32- and 64-bit versions of Vegas Pro 10 software, DVD Architect™ Pro 5.2 software, and the Dolby® Digital professional AC-3 encoder.

Glad to see many things that were advertised as features several releases ago finally implemented fully.
On the other hand one has to wonder why it took so long.
Perhaps there's a new broom in the new building.
Interesting times ahead perhaps. Much will depend on how smoothly V10 rolls out.

Sorry but I don't get the negative comments about 3D, they simply had to do this or become irrelevant. Encouraging to see that SCS are finally aware of where the industry is at.

Bob.

No cuda support? Only for avc encoding?
Sorry, but I will not buy it.
FilmingPhotoGuy wrote on 9/10/2010, 5:52 AM
Actualy there is CUDA support. Checkout Yarin Voodoo' link

Yup I totally agree with you Bob re 3D negative comments. While most of us (at the moment) will not utilise the Vegas 3D, we will in the future. This is why Vegas rocks it is usually the first Prosumer NLE to bring out the "future of video" and my hat goes out to them. This will also bring them great publicity which will only help Vegas to be further recognised as the NLE of choice to the larger video production houses. And when this happenns we will all feel rather special to say "I told you so"

Thanks SCS

this is great.

finally. hopefully V10 will really improve the AVCHD editing process.. personally that is the only thing I care about.

I just gave in and bought V9 thinking if it was released today I would get the upgrade free.. but now they go and say it's coming out in October *sigh. I'll have to ask for a refund or something.

peace

I agree too. I know that most of us will look at this features and say... I don't do 3D so why should I care but... People who ARE doing 3D are on the cutting edge and they have nowhere to go. Now Sony pops up with 3D support and they all check it out and BANG! they're hooked on Vegas just like the rest of us. ;-) (it's a potent drug you know...)

It is a brilliant move to show that the Sony has once again leapfrogged the competition who are still in their "three-point editing" mentality just like they use to in the Sonic Foundry days (for those of us who remember when the team was called that). Bravo SCS!!!
