Hi All, Just upgraded to Soundforge Audio Studio 10 from Audio Studio 8.. So far Impressed with the finer Wave Form editing but.....
Have 2 issues,
1. After editing pops and clicks manually, i notice my 320kbps mp3 Music Files have reduced in quality to 256kbps after saving. Having used SF Audio Studio 8 for 2 years i NEVER had this problem no matter how many times the music file was opened & modified. (Always remained 320) ??

2. Also experiencing problems Schrolling Wave-Form Left & Right using the jog wheel on my mouse (Can only click the Left/Right arrows (bottom corners) of page on program itself ..Again never had this problem on SF A-S 8. ??

Can anyone help please.. This is frustrating the hell out of me.
Thanx ..

Do you "save" or "save as" (with new filename)?

Check the "Custom" file settings in the save window. Select the desired MP3 bit rate, ect.
That said, anytime an MP3 file is saved/re-saved the data is re-compressed compromising quality each time.. It's advisable to work on files in an uncompressed PCM mode. (WAVE or AIFF) Then convert the PCM 'master' to an MP3 for distribution. If drive space is an issue, the master file could be archived as a non-lossy .PCA or almost non-lossy FLAC. if AS-10 supports saving those file types.
BTW, *.pca (Perfect Clarity Audio) is a SCS proprietary file type so sharing the file with others could be an issue.

Also keep in mind that Sound Forge does not and cannot edit "MP3" format. When you open the MP3 file Sound Forge decompresses it to uncompressed PCM while it is editing. Then when you save Sound Forge compresses to MP3 format again. So, there is no relationship between the input format/bitrate and the output format/bitrate. Consider that you could just as easily be opening MP3 and saving as OGG, or opening AAC and saving as WMA. As far as Sound Forge is concerned, it's starting a brand new file every time you save so there's no particular reason for it to conform it to match the original file.
