Subject:No MOTU Audio device could be found at Startup

Hello,

I am getting the Error message at start up of Sound Forge Audio Studio 10 and also Vegas Movie Studio 9.0 Platinum -

No MOTU Audio device could be found. Make sure your MOTU Audio device is connected, powered on, and that the drivers are installed.

Clicking on OK results in the program loading in and working normally, even with my MOTU audio interface.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this error message?

Thanks,

Michael

This is an error message that a MOTU driver reports. It can be caused by installing the wrong MOTU driver.

You should make sure that only the driver for you hardware is installed on your system.

Hi SonyPCH,

How do I make sure that only the driver for my hardware is installed?

I did install the latest driver before this happened.

MOTU stuff on a pc is kind of finicky - you have to make sure you downloaded the right driver for the right hardware that you have and follow MOTU's instructions explicitly. Right now I'd suggest doing a complete uninstall of any MOTU drivers you have and then do a re-install of the correct drivers.

As to how do you make sure you have only the drivers (and the right ones at that) for your hardware installed, you have to pay attention to what you have hardware-wise and marry up the correct drivers. It's as simple as following the install instructions from MOTU. You don't say what MOTU interface you have. MOTU has a PCI-424 card that goes in the computer - that has drivers for XP, Vista and Win7 in both 32 and 64 bit. MOTU also has interfaces that have Firewire and/or USB. Those share a driver and are also available for Win7, Vista and XP in both 32 and 64 bit. See the drivers download page at MOTU for the drivers - you need an account with them to be able to download the drivers. Which basically means you have to register your interface with them.

Hello,

I have the new MOTU Micro Book. I do have the correct driver installed because in my audio software AISO Micro Book is an option for audio hardware and Micro Book is also listed and working in my device manager.

I am running a Vista 64 bit SP2 OS.

Sony technical support feels it is a MOTU problem and not a Sony problem.

I am going to contact MOTU tech support as well.

Hi Peter,

The error message says, "No MOTU Audio device could be found. Make sure your MOTU Audio device is connected, powered on, and that the drivers are installed."

MOTU tech support had me uninstall/install the latest driver. I ran my Sony Software right after I uninstalled the MOTU driver, and the Sony software started up with no error messages. Then, after installing the latest MOTU driver, the error message came back.

Sony tech support says to just hit OK on the error message since the application then loads in and functions normally, and to wait for a new driver release from MOTU.

This is happening with Sony Sound Forge Studio 10 and Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9. The MOTU product is the new Micro Book.

I am running Windows Vista 64 SP2 OS.

Hello Everyone,

I solved my problem. As it turns out I had additional MOTU drivers installed on my computer when I went to update my MicroBook's drivers. I went into my control panel and then add-remove programs, selected change for MOTU Hardware, and then unchecked the firewire/usb check box, and left the Micro Book check box in place. This uninstalled only the firewire/usb drivers. I then tested Sound Forge and found no error messages. The Micro Book now works great with Sound Forge Studio 10.
