Works for me, 32-bit and 64-bit running Shuttle driver 2.7.8, Windows 7 ultimate x64, Vegas 9.0. You may need to import the settings from the Vegas 9 installation folder.
Let me guess on the help files for Vegas -- you either select "help" or press the F1 key and nothing happens ? If that is what you are seeing, I had that go around with SCS support a few weeks ago and finally got them to admit the developers were aware of the issue and I should check back in a couple of weeks (although they may have been referring to the Movie Studio release ... ) Anyway, if that is the case, here is the work around I came up with that works for me - in the folder:
"C:\Program Files\Sony\Shared Plug-Ins\Help Files" you will find a vegas90.chm and a vegas90.chw file. Copy those to the "C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 9.0" folder assuming you did a normal install (at least this is the path for XP). The help should now work for you. They insist they are supposed to be in the "shared plug-ins" path, but I was not able to get it to look there but it was looking in the second folder I listed. If it is any help, here is the thread on the help file problem. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=711955
I would like to know how you guys actually configure the Shuttle to efficiently cut/edit your material. I have tried loads of options but fail to find the setup that does the job for me. I guess I face a strong combination of new hardware (shuttle ProV2), new NLE and not knowing anyone even remotely interested in editing video :-)
Part of my problem is basically that I cannot get a good flow in my work. At times focus in Vegas Pro9 shift from the track I am working on to another track and I have to use my mouse to again chose the track to edit. This happens now and then and I cannot figure out why it suddenly happens...
Anyone with a good setup to share? If there is anything I need to do in Vegas Pro 9 to ensure focus to a specific track - please let me know. I am a bit of a newbie here (this is my first post here actually).
When I started using the shuttle with my left hand and my mouse with the right was when I "got" the shuttle pro. It's brutal to even edit without one.
My "shuttle flow" is thus. I've got in/out, marker, split, de-select, post edit ripple, tool select, play/pause and preview to external monitor set up as buttons on the shuttle. I use the mouse to grab stuff and zoom in and out, etc. Use the shuttle for the above mentioned commands.
It takes a few days to get the flow but when you get it you can really fly with Vegas.
o.k. - dave got me thinking... This is from left to right starting at the top:
delete
ignore grouping
splt
tool select
de-select
in
mark
out
post edit ripple
in
shuttle knob
out
secondary monitor
play
secondary monitor
play

On my shuttle pro I have
Home
End
Left Edge
Right Edge
Left Trim
Right Trim
Exit Trim
Split
Delete
Prview
PreRender
Run Macro
Play
I also have a Shuttle Xpress
I use the JOG for ZOOM Timeline
Insert Video
Up One Track
Play In Trimmer
After reading this thread I realized Contour release drivers that would work on Shuttle Pro ver. 1 with Windows 7....yay!!!
I'm in the process programing it but can't remember or find in the shortcuts how to hide/show the track header in the timeline view...anyone know off-hand.
Thanks very much,
Randy
EDIT: also for some reason the center jog/shuttle wheel (the one with the indention ...whatever it's called) won't advance frame by frame like it used to
What's the life span of something like the Shuttle Pro? I bought a fancy mouse about two years ago and it appears to be dying now, never had that problem with a bog standard wheel mouse.
I'm interested in the shuttle but dont want the same experience.
