$249 for an upgrade to NeoHD is a very good deal. Thanks for the tip.

Also, Neo HD V5 includes the innovative color correction software, First Light. First Light only modifies the metadata in the Cineform file and requires no re-encoding to do the CC. The Cineform decoder handles all color correction.

This promotion is now live. You can update NeoScene 1.x to NeoHD 5.x for only $249.

David - is there anything compelling to make the upgrade to the new NeoScene?

I can't tell what's been added and if it's worth the upgrade or not.

NeoScene v5 includes a faster decoder, some quality tweaks (particularly for Canon HDSLR users) and CS5 support. The bigger changes are in Neo HD, so the product separation just got wider, yet through the promotion the price jump is smaller.

It looks like you could buy Neo Scene and then upgrade to Neo HD. The price would still be a little less than buying HD directly.

David, I have an email question in to Cineform but maybe you could answer here. I'd like to use NeoScene or HD on my work computer and home computer. Do I need two licenses? If so then I'd want to wait until I'm sitting at the home computer before making purchase.

Rob - I'm using Neoscene on on my desktop and laptop. Cineform is generous in allowing that. I got that official word from CF Tech Support last year when I purchased NeoScene.

Rob,

You can't buy NeoScene today and and then upgrade to NeoHD, and that deal is only good if you have a 1.x NS license, we aren't selling those any more. This was to reward existing NS customers and encourage their update.

On plus side, Cliff is correct, we do allow two installs.

Dan,

I own neoscene licenses for windows and OSX. How would it work if I wanted to get two licenses for Neo HD, one for mac and one for windows?

Thanks, William

Neo Scene is what I need at a minimum. At the moment I'm running into a wall with the two-install thing. From the Activation Key email:

"IMPORTANT! - New activations are only provided after any existing activation has been deactivated. Activations are tied to the hardware and operating system configuration of your PC. Prior to any upgrades or re-installation of the operating system please contact support@cineform.com for information on how to deactivate your existing installation or go to http://estore.cineform.com/support . This will help avoid delays in processing a new activation request."

I'll send a note to cineform support to ask how to work this out. Obviously this forum isn't the place.

William,
I'm not sure I see an issue, you can upgrade you two NeoScene licenses to two NeoHD license (one on each platform.)

Rob,
Support will help you out.

Dawdling today but will get to it in a bit. Thanks David.

All the information was there for the reading but I was making decisions at work while also trying to work. Too much multitasking.

David,

I see that users of NeoSceneV5 can upgrade to HD for $129. I bought NeoScene V1 right before the new version came out; mid-April. Do I screw up my upgrade path (HD with First Light would be great for what I am doing) if I request the free serial for NeoScene V5?

Did that make sense?

KK

BTW I just built one of the fastest single processor PC's possible and there is still no better way to edit AVC (especially for quality) than using Cineform. Now it transcodes like lighting.

KK,

Sorry I missed this post (this site doesn't offer notifications.) You can update to NeoScene v5 for free whenever, no timeline limit on that. Yet the NeoHD upgrade deal expires June 15th. So you should trial NeoHD (15-days are free) and determine what you want to do, as we can only upgrade the serial one or the other. If you did get NS v5 and now want NeoHD v5, we can work something out -- yet it will be a manual process.

KK,

Once you try FirstLight the decision to upgrade will be a given. :)

I tried upgrading to neoscene 5 but I never received a number or anything. I sent an email to sales to ask, but never got a response. I know phone is fruitless from past experience. I appreciate the response.

I will try the web upgrade to neohd. Maybe that will go through. If not, I guess I am out of luck.

Also just to make it clear the promotional upgrade from Neo 5 to HD is $249.00 not $129.00.....

Actually, the website shows the upgrade from neoscene V5 to neohd to be $129. The upgrade from neoscene V1 to neohd is shown as $249.

Not quite. The upgrade from NeoScene V5 is $129 off the full price; the upgrade from NeoScene V1 is $249 off the full price. Better deal for NeoScene V1 folks. No deal for me, having just been introduced to the Cineform products.

IAM4UK,

You are correct. When I used the page that is how it acted. I misinterpreted the way the drop down box showed it.

Well, there is a happy ending to all of this. I tried to upgrade to neohd V5 and the system kicked it back. I was worried because I seem to have trouble making contact with folks at Cineform. This time I emailed support and Jake responded in an hour. He looked into it and solved it and had a serial number to me shortly after that.

There is no equal product to Cineform but my contact concerns have made me hesitant. I will tell you now that the response in this situation was super and matched the quality of their product. Thank you for hanging in there with me Cineform and taking care of my issues.

I just went through the upgrade procedure from neoscene 5 to NEO HD on the Cineform site and I was charged the full upgrade price of $379. There was no mention of a special upgrade price. How do I get in on this deal?
kkolbo wrote on 6/11/2010, 2:32 PM

$379 is the correct price to upgrade from neoscene 5 to neohd. The $249 price was for long time owners who had neoscene 1. It was kind of a thank you thing. I go back to the first neoHDV.
