OT: Please don't hate me. What's new with 9.0

Hello I have been literally in the jungle for the past several months and just got my hands on 9.0 . I know that this subject has probably been beaten to death, as it was when 8.0 came out, but what's like the big new things i need to know? I just wondered if someone could summarize or give me a link to a previous post as my time here on line is very limited... (I am in SA). I use AVCHD Video from my sony cam on an average laptop so I have had to convert all files to .avi before. And I always had problems with MPEG4's going red so I couldn't use that format.

Thanks a million, and as I said, please don't hate me. LOL.

A complete list of what's new in v9.0 as well as changes and fixes in the subsequent 9.0x releases can be found here:

Why don't you install Vegas 9 as a demo and see how it's handling avchd for you.

the things you will love about 9.0 is more AVCHD templates to use for rendering, and they work! Also 9.0 through 9.0C all smart render - long events don't have to be rerendered and so they move through the process very quickly, real time or better for those sections. You have to render to the same format as the original file for this to work. Smart render is broken for AVCHD (works for other formats) in 9.0D and 9.0E so don't load one of those if you can choose which one to get.

I was surprised because it was not listed in the release notes as having been changed, but with 9.0e I am getting surprisingly improved palyback of the MPEG files from my GoPro HD Hero camera. It went from 9-10fps to 29.97 fps on the same single drive low end laptop. hmm. I am not going to complain.
