Cool beans. Thanks for the heads-up, John!

Cool !! I was just about to install "d" now I can install "e" :-) Hopefully it fixes most of the issues we have heard about without introducing any new "undocumented features" !

Downloaded and installed 9.0e 64 bit with no problems. Opens fine. Loaded an old SD project --- no problems -- then an old AVCHD project. Same. No problems. It's early but I'm an early adopter. Backed up and ready.

Hello xberk,
we just install 9.0e over the top of 9.0d?
Not an update? A new install?

I didn't see any instructions on the link other than installation...

Until that time... Earl J.

This announcement combined with Blackmagic giving the official word that their Intensity card supports Vegas Pro 9 allowing secondary monitor preview - I'm feeling more hopeful.

I loaded the same veg that I used in the http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=4&MessageID=709555slow-loading solution[/link] post. The 9d solution had taken approximately 1 minute, and the 9e took just about the same amount of time.

Hats off to Sony for a quick resolution. We call them on it when there's a problem, but we give them credit when they do well. When you look at the date of the aviplug.dll for 9e (I hope I never have to use the term "aviplug.dll" again), it looks like it was last modified just yesterday. So if that's true, that's quite a feat to finalize the issue yesterday and get it out to us all today.

Earl, all Sony releases are complete installs. They don't do patches.
John_Cline wrote on 5/13/2010, 4:40 PM
Earl, just run the 9.0e .EXE, it will see your old v9.x version and update it.

*woot*

At the moment I'm up to my neck in Cineform and there was no way I was going to jump to 9d after reading of the problems. Looks like 9e is worth a try.

Wow Sony! Thanks for the quick response to the problems with 9.0D!!!! I hadn't downloaded D because of the reported problems, but I will download E now for sure.

Thanks for the fix SONY. 9.0e rocks opening projects!
Much better than the workaround.

A very much appreciated and expedient bunch of fixes Sony. I am very appreciative of the speed with which you were able to put this new version taking into account the need of your users to use your software and the desire to have the new functionalities on the 9d release.

Great, online activation no longer works for me. ;-(

That's never happened before.
Earl_J wrote on 5/13/2010, 6:37 PM
Thanks Chienworks,
I just opened my VP to look at the sort function, and it took me to the same download site for the upgrade site where I had just downloaded the full version . . .

thanks for the tip ... now, I know . . . until I forget... (grin)

Until that time ... Earl J.

Why do you need to activate the update? Did you do a full uninstall?
Kevin R wrote on 5/13/2010, 8:13 PM
@jabloomf1230,

Don't uninstall the old version and you won't have to activate. Just let it update.

There was a Vegas Video 2.0h and a v4.0e and v7.0e.
PeterDuke wrote on 5/13/2010, 8:43 PM
Version 8 came out in 2007 and version 9 in 2009 so maybe version 10 in 2011. Plenty of time to use up more alphabet, but hopefully we won't need it (except for bug free enhancements).

Thanks for the relatively quick turnaround, Sony.

> Blackmagic giving the official word that their Intensity card supports Vegas Pro 9

Where is that announcement?
Cliff Etzel wrote on 5/13/2010, 9:10 PM
Tim - I have been in direct contact with Blackmagic and I have two different sources confirm the Intensity card works with Vegas PRo 9 for Preview only to an external monitor. I have another email in to SCS Tech Support to triple confirm this.

Project under 9d = 4 minutes & staggering load percentile bar

Project under 9e = 7 seconds & smooth load percentile bar

Marvellous! - Thanks SCS.

So, and to counter those saying/thinking I had a local issue - it most definitely was not. Same PC, same setup, no new hardware or updates - ONLY this improved VP9e. 4 minutes down to 7 seconds!

Best regards

Grazie

The last thing I want to be is a party pooper but 9e loads just as slowly on my recent project as 9d. Keep in mind that when I do "the fix" 9d loads go from 7 minutes to 30 seconds.

The veg file in question contains these file types and is a large project:

mxf
avi
wav
mp3
vob
aiff
aif
mov

Maybe it's the vob files that are the issue since Sony doesn't say anything about vob files in their fixes for 9e. Hopefully, later next week I'll get some time to experiment.
