Welcome to Vegas!

I'm a fan of VASST Training DVD's, but I do a lot of work for them so I'm not entirely impartial.

That being said, I have been editing for about 7 years in Vegas, and this forum has been an invaluable resource.

Also checkout Youtube it has a whole slew of training some good some not so good but at least you can see how others use it.

You can check Sony's website for some basic training as well.

Welcome

Do a search on this forum there is a huge pile of info and discussions to wade through
Once you get the terminology right it gets easier for example “universal joint” it could be a car part, it could be a huge place to hangout, it could be an oversized dope cigarette
Unfortunately most folks on this forum will go with the latter.

New at Video Editing or New at Vegas?

Are you shooting your own stuff or editing others?

My tip for newbies to editing, is to understand the power of layers in video. For example, you can layer a title over a video clip. Which is great. Then go a little futher and make the title move over the video clip. Go further still and if you break that title into different layers, you can animate each word in that title. A simple example like this makes you see how much you can do in your desktop software.

"...it could be an oversized dope cigarette. Unfortunately most folks on this forum will go with the latter."

What a stupid thing to say. Where is there any evidence whatsoever that this forum is full of pot smokers?

Um, I think it was a play on words. And, BTW, is there any evidence it's not?

I refuse to answer that question...

John I also refuse to answer that question

Like me when Wallace reads through threads about color resampling, bits, bytes, some with a big M and some with ‘a small m, he is gonna say
‘man this ain’t normal “ what are these folks smoking?

C'mon John, laugh it off....LOL..... I was with Rory on the weekend and we were Googling images of "universal joint" for a filming rig stabilizer we are building when we saw THE "universal joint" in question.

I can assure you we would never sully the Sony Vegas joint where we all meet since we don't even smoke.
