Will the Vegas issue be resolved? I had 7.6.5 installed and it worked OK but now don't not.

It's not just a Vegas issue. It's present in Final Cut as well and possibly others.

7.6.6 is working fine for me and in fact fixed mp4/h.264 problems in other apps besides vegas. Your mileage may vary.
