Video not "quantize to frames"ed

I have seen a couple of "weirdnesses" in a couple of projects recently (e.g. random frames from sub-tracks) and I noticed that I did not have "quantize to frames" turned on by default when I loaded the projects.

Got me wondering: what artifacts might I expect to see were I not cutting video on frame boundaries?

All feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

marks

Switch it back on and check everything, very carefully.
If you haven't started editing as such, start new project, make certain QTF is on and reload the clips.
There might be a script around that will fix things for you to some extent or maybe just find the bits that aren't quantized for you to fix.

It's hard to say exactly what can go wrong if you don't fix this but when I've made this booboo I make a big effort to fix it so I don't find out the hard way.

If you already had video clips on the timeline with QTF "off," and then turn it "on," you must then move and / or size each individual video event to frame boundaries until they "snap." QTF only auto-snaps newly added clips.

Any gaps in the video timeline can result in the random frame error, which goes back to the earliest days of Vegas. The solution is to butt your events at frame boundaries with QTF "on," or insert a blank video event if there must be a gap in the video timeline.

Using 8.0c.
