Hello, has anyone managed to get the VASST Notepad working with Vegas 9.0c? It was working fine with Vegas 8 but I can't get it to show up with version 9. Is that because I still have Vegas 8 installed?
The installer for the VASST Freeware does not place things in the correct places to appear in V.9.0. I believe that this is intended to be fixed in new versions of the freeware apps, but this does not seem to have happened yet.
In the meantime you can move/copy the files to the appropriate places manually, so that they will appear and function in Vegas V.9.0.. See the thread beginning here for details of where to move the files to. Pay particular attention to JohnnyRoy's messages which tell you the correct locations for the files - some of the other messages in the thread give incorrect locations.

All of the Freeware tools with the exception of Notepad have been updated to work with Vegas Pro 9.0. Check the Downloads page on the VASST site.
It's a little more than just moving files if you are using Vista or Windows 7 because the new security forbids writing anything to the \Program Files\ folder where the settings files are normally kept so they all had to be moved to a user writable area and the code had to be changed to look at the new location.
I have 8c and 9e installed on my 64bit Windows7 system. Notepad shows up in 8 but not in 9. I see that this is supposed to work in 9 as well but does that include 64bit?
I have checked roaming/appdata/sony/vegaspro/9.0/application extensions and the installer is not putting the dll file in that location. When I manually copy it there it doesn't work either. I like this app and use it alot but after a system rebuild on 64bit I can't get it to work anymore.
My free Timeline Tools Sony Vegas Pro add-in contains a Project Notes feature. It saves the note in a Rich Text File in the project sub-directory with the same base name as the project .veg file. Timeline Tools runs on Sony Vegas Pro version 8.x and later; 32 or 64 bit versions.
Here's a link to the Users Guide showing details of the Project Note feature.
Thanks Gary! I downloaded and am trying it out now. I especially like the fact that you can do searches within the notes which is very helpful for me. Great to have another tool in the box.
A SHOUT-out for TIMELINE TOOLS - if you are not already using the latest version of this product - then get busy - it is the most productive utility in the Sony Vegas Pro video marketplace!
> "Thanks JR, but did you understand that I am trying to use Notepad in 9e? "
Yes, Notepad broke in Vegas Pro 9.0 when Vista support as introduced. Vista locked down the Program Files folder where Sony had their Script Menu and and many scripts wrote their configuration files. All had to be modified for Vista and now Windows 7. I had modified Notepad some time ago and apparently never posted it back to our web site. I'll get it posted this week.
OK, I have the latest Notepad 1.2 posted to the VASST web site. This supports Vegas Pro 8.0 thru 11.0. You can download it from the Downloads page. It's listed in the Freeware section.
Apologies to all those who have been waiting for this. Enjoy,
~jr

After downloading the updated Vasst Notepad (v1.2.0) it would not install, saying that a compatible Vegas Pro could not be found. I have Vegas Pro 10 & 11 64 bit installed, is it only compatible with Vegas Pro 9 or only 32 bit versions? If it is compatibale with the versions I have installed what is the procedure for installation of this new version of Notepad? Thanks inadvance.

Try it now. Download it again (it will still be the 1.2.0 zip file). I've updated the installer to recognize Vegas Pro 10.0 & 11.0. Let me know if it works. (sorry about that)
