Just Got this upgrade?. Installed it, ( it made a new installaion) and when I clicked on the icon to load..it starts...when it gets to activemovie.dll...it stops, a window opens saying a error has occured, It seems to say that a file is being accessed in my Documents, and the application needs to be closed down...the only application running at the time is Vagas 9.0c...and it will not load up...I have rebooted...and tried sevral times to load it up...but it always Gives me the same message, at or just after the Activemovie.dll...
I have tried to remove this program in add remove programs...and it will not remove...I get another error message saying something is in use...retry does nothing, and cancil only puts everything back...
So I cannot remove the program nor reinstall it,

I tried to reinstall over it, but that says It is already installed.

What am I to do now?

It may be a plugin or codec conflict from another program you have installed -- virtual dj, divx, cubase, others?

Thanks for the reply so fast too..
I have a lot of software for music installed...for it is my studio computer...and internet..
I have no idea what those things are, but I assume they are memory ranges...in the error message....?
Not sure why I cannot remove the program...I'll try again for the tenth time, and try to write down the error code for that...

Thanks for the idea...I can't go round blindly removing Plug-ins i use, or softwares have installed, and things installed by other programs....Just to run a upgrade which should not be having these problems to begin with.

But Thanks anyway for the Idea.

Vegas can't guarantee compatability with other VST plugins already on your computer. It would be nice if cross-licensing agreements existed, but they don't.

You'll have to do some troubleshooting to discover which application or plugin has hijacked activemovie.dll

The ones I mentioned above were found on the internet.

Happy New Year!

The add remover program states this:

Another Application has exclusice Access to the file C:\ documents and settings\Sir les\Local\settings\ Application Data\Sony\Vagas Pro\9.0\vst_grovel log'l
Please shut down all other applications, then Click retry.

There is only Vagas Pro 9.0c running as a application...so I cannot find any other way to follow this lead...

I use Ctrl alt delete, and select applications.
I have turned off my security for this install and removal..

Hope it helps someone help me?

Gotta Go...I'll be back..

If using Vista, disable UAC.
Be sure you are running the program as Administrator.

Thanks
Using Xp sp3....administrator?...I only have one profile, and that is the one I boot into every day.....is there something else I have to do to become an admin?

It seems when I run add remove programs, I'm unable to remove Vagas 9.0c Due to some Application running and evidently stopping the removal process....If I ctrl alt delete and check applications...Vagas Pro 9.0 is running...so it says...but the only thing running is the add remove program and of course the uninstaller which will not uninstall because the uninstaller is running....Or something like that....

I'll try to troubleshoot those suggestions...but they are not running in any shape or form , to my knowledge.

Also do I have to uninstall Vagas pro 8.0c?

As I thought this Vagas pro 9.0c was an update for it, I did not uninstall it for that reason.
But this update installed as a complete install in its own folder..etc.

Vagas Pro 8.0c still works...

And I checked the string...there is nothing in the vagas Pro 9.0 folder that is not accessable to me..vst_grovel.log' I do not see it as read only or hidden or archived...How can I change the attributes so all can access it?

I removed the vst_grovel text files manually...and then Ran the Add remove program, and uninstalled it.....and that worked....

Now I will try again to install this update...which is really a full version...Right?

Light of truth, Peace and Joy onto you.

OK...I found the activemovie.dll...
It is a Cubase vst plug in...in its plug in folder...I removed the dll and put it in a alternate folder for safe keeping.

I now can load Vagas...it still has some issues...a fatal error occured...but it disapeared, and continued to load up...

Guess that fixes it....

That was the 32 bit story...
I wonder what is going to happen with the 64 bit I am going to install next.

All the best in the new year...

P.S Thanks for the help...it was very helpful after all.
