"Reapply Layout from file"

DVDA 5.0b, Vista 32

I have some menu pages that I changed the font size and therefore the position of the buttons slightly.
.
According to the help you select Edit/Reapply Layout from file to reload the new PSD.
.
However, it is grayed out so I can't select it.
I tried respecifying the backgournd, replacing the backgournd media, deleteing and -then- replacing the backgrou media. I tried some other things I can't remember.
The 'background' is correct, but the updated button sizes and positons are not picked up. That is, only part of the button image is there.
.
When I create a new page/menu, the new button sizes and positions are picked up.
.
Using the sizing option uses the size of the image from before, it doesn not pickup the increased size.
.
For example, say the button is MENU but the new font made it bigger. Now the button shows only EN. The sizing tool changes the size of EN but does not 'stretch' to include the M or U on either end.
.
So, contrary to what the book says, the image is not picked up when focus is returned to DVDA. (Actually, I made the original changes in PhotoShop before starting DVDA.)
.
With DVDA open, in PhotoShop I added a new button to one of the pages and saved it. When returning to DVDA, the new button was not there and neither was the updated background.
But, the strange thing was that the Crop and adjust screen showed it!
The pull down only had media in it and did not contain Highlight mask.
.
I wss working with the bounding box when DVDA froze (I reported this activity in the last 2 (or is it 3) versions of DVDA but Sony does not accept that there is a problem - even when I sent a video of it!)
(I am going to give up on this for a while and find some other frustration to work on.)
.
I recreated one of the menus and had to rebuild it - actions for the buttons, navagation, broken links in other places. It only has 9 buttons in a virtical line, so that wasn't too hard and only took about 30 min.
.
I have another one with 17 buttons that is much more complicated and will take 1 to 2 hours to redo.
.
Any ideas as to how to get DVDA to reimport the PSD and correctly update the button size / location would be greately appreciated.
.
Thanks for any help.
