Vegas Pro 8.1 rendering problem(s)

bradradio wrote on 11/17/2008, 3:32 PM
I'm using Vista 64, Dual Quad Core Xeon, 16 GB RAM and Vegas Pro 8.1. Whenever I attempt to render .m2t or .avi files to MPEG2 (any template), the system hangs after about 20 seconds and I get the message: 0x80010105 missing message. When I render using Vegas Pro 8c, all is well. Any help would be appreciated.

Where do you see this message? In what form? Is it a "blue screen", a BSOD?

Thanks for your quick reply. I get the message right after Vegas Pro 8.1 hangs. It does not go to blue screen. It appears to be coming from within Vegas.

Ok, but to have the whole system hang in Vista is actually difficult.. You mean that Vegas hangs? Or Windows itself??
In any case - I do not think I can help you right now. I am working qith Vista 64 and Quad core myself, but do not render to the format in question. If rendering to other formats works fine, then it is reasonable to suspect the codec used for your particular rendering. Maybe you could search for this on the Internet. Dearch for the codec and Vista 64.

Thanks again for your quick reply. To clarify (and I apologize for the confusion), Vista 64 doesn't hang - Vegas does. Also, I'm rendering to MPEG2 using the Mainconcept codec that comes with Vegas Pro 8.1. I assume it's 64-bit compliant since Sony chose to include this with their 64-bit version of Vegas. Nevertheless, at your suggestion, I googled this and only found references to Mainconcept's 64-bit MPEG2 codec for TV tuners. I appreciate your help.

Maybe you use an external plug-in that is not compatible with Vegas 8.1?

Hi Joran - thanks for your idea. I'm not using any plug-ins. In fact, I've not even installed any. I'm simply using Vegas Pro 8.1 as is.

Interesting... I've never seen that one.

I render m2t, avi and m2ts files to MPEG-2 all the time with version 8.1 on my quad core with Vista 64--never seen that sort of an issue. I use the native MainConcept codec, so I do not believe that's the issue. Out of curiosity, what boxes do you have checked near the bottom of the render page? Is one of the boxes getting checked somehow (like Render using networked computers, for example) when you don't mean it to? Are the same boxes checked when you select MPEG-2 type, as for the other types?

That is a weird problem--I've rendered about 40-50 various projects to MPEG-2 with 8.1 on Vista 64, and never had a single issue really. It has to be some weird setting causing the crash, is my bet...

I am having the same issue using Pro 8.1 on both Windows XP 64 and Vista Business 64. - I never had this problem using Pro 8.0a/b/c. I left the settings in the general tab on default. I also unchecked everything to see if the problem gets corrected -NO Luck. Also, the Enable No Recompress GOP doesn't work for me in 8.1 either.

I received word from engineering today that they were able to reproduce the issue. They have bugged this and will work on a fix for it. They mentioned that when testing, DV, IMX, .AVI and HD MXF no recompress renders were working properly in the software. If it is possible to render to any of those formats, you should be able to render using the no-recompress settings.

In the meantime, please continue to download the updates as they come out for the software to see the issue resolved.

Excellent. Thanks for posting this.

I have the same problem but only when I render in 8 bit pixel format - I don't have the problem with 32 bit pixel format ever.

Has there been a resolution of this problem yet? I have a fresh install of Vegas 8.1c on a nice new Vista+SP1 and am seeing the problem any time I try to do a 2-pass encode (and other times too, but I can't nail down exactly what the triggers are, other than 2-pass).

I just bought Vegas Pro 8 just for the 64bit of v8.1. This has worked for me for this problem.

Go to preference under options menu.
under the video tab, the second thing from the top is max number of rendering threads. Default for me was 16. I change to 8 and now I can render Mainconcept Mpeg2.

System: i7 core 920, 12 gig ram, vista business x64, velociraptor 300g for OS, WD black 1G for rendering, pioneer bluray burner (on order)

Thank you!!! I have been in contact with Sony for the past week/ week & 1/2 about this problem, and you are the only one that has been able to shed some light. Thanks.

That didn't fix the same problem for me. Any others?
