How can I avoid Sound Forge 5.0 from save those files?

From what I gather, SF5 is going to make SFK files whether
you want it to or not. SF4.5 only made them if you opened
a file in direct mode. SF5 doesn't seem to care which mode
you use to open a file. What's worse is the support I've
seen on this forum - they seem to be in a state of denial
over the issue.

Sonic Foundry - do your users a favor! Give us the option
to TURN OFF THE BLASTED SFK FILES!!! Even Cool Edit 2000
gives you such a choice - why can't you?

Sheesh. Quit sponsoring ladybug-shaped robots and spend
some money where it's needed, will ya?

Vegas and Sound Forge 5.0 always create these files. I was
incorrect previously when I said Sound Forge 4.5 did this
too. These files are very small, and you would have to
have thousands of them before they would take up a
considerable amount of drive space.

I don't care how big they are. I work in a group
environment that shares a network system for game
development. The LAST thing we need is a bunch of useless
SFK files accidentally getting out in the game release
because I forgot I was working with SF5 instead of SF4.5
and couldn't turn them off.

This is a bad situation and needs to be fixed. There is
absolutely no reason why it can't be corrected, and I'm
still trying to figure out why it was changed in SF5 to
begin with.

What makes this scenario even worse is that if you start
for example with a title.wav file in a folder named SF-
Input on Partition D and you save it after editing as
title.mp3 into a folder named Artist-Name you end up with 2
of those damned .sfk-files.
One named title.sfk in folder SF-Input and one
named title.mp3.sfk in folder Artist-Name.

As a professional sample cd musician, this is just a horrible situation. After using Sound Forge and saving the
.wav files in the proper folders, which will then go directly to print, I have to go in to every folder and delete these
damn .sfk files. After working all day on the sounds themselves the last thing I want to do is more work. And I
can't have these files on the sample cd.

The other day after several hundred cd's were printed, one.sfk file was noticed in the folders. How embarrasing
to have a boss call you up and tell you that these cd's are ruined, and need to be re-printed. It might be a minor
file, but you don't want people finding random files they don't need on a disk they just paid $50-$100 for! It's just
not professional.

Fix this please Sonic Foundry!!

Is this something you could fix in an upgrade? Make it so we can turn them off?
If not, i'm going back to Wavelab, and recommending to the people I work with to stay away from this program.

This is being looked into now. It is not known at this
time how this will be handled, but I will post here when I
know more.

I'm glad I've found this thread today.
Sorry, but as lead audio engineer in a global company I
have to advise all our local offices NOT to upgrade to SF5
until the "sfk" issue is fixed.
We're using SF in a strictly technical way eg. creating
files for MM and eLearning applications. It's totaly
unacceptable to look for unwanted files all the time.

Well, I don't know what just happened with all those posts. I was just typing and all of a sudden everyting froze.
The next thing I know there are a whole lot of posts from me. My appologies.:)

My point was going to be that this .sfk file thing doesn't seem to be a hard fix for Sonic, I just hope they do it. I
really like the way Ver 5.0 is, minus a few minor bugs. And i've always used sound forge any chance I could.
But this .sfk file thing is just too much.
