It looks like there are a few things working against implementation of this format in Vegas:

-- Sony might have to negotiate a licensing fee up front to use a proprietary Microsoft product, adding to the purchase cost of the software.
-- Some DVD-MS files are copy-protected, so they couldn't be edited anyway.
-- According to internet resources, this format is being phased out and is in the process of being replaced.

In the meantime, you might look at the third-party options available by doing an internet search. It appears that newer versions of Windows Movie Maker will edit and convert these files to WMV.

I use DVR-MS Converter (http://www.dvr-ms.com/). which creates an MPEG-2 program stream that Vegas can process. The converter is simple and effective.
