Subject:Cant listen to whats being recorded through Mic

I love this software! Only one problem that I really need help with. I installed version 9.0d onto a new Compac CQ60-417 laptop that only has a mic input and headphone jack. To bad it doesn't have a line in jack. When I record through the mic jack I'm unable to listen to whats being recorded. I have to wait till it's done before I can listen to it. I really need to be able to listen 'live' to whats being recorded. I can do all this through the preference setup in that super small application called "Audacity". Surely Soundforge can do this too? Perhaps a plugin would work?

To make this work, for now at least, I'm running Audacity side by side with Soundforge so I can listen in. I'd rather not have to rely on another program for assistance when Soundforge is the better of the two.

Thank you VERY much for any help!

"When I record through the mic jack I'm unable to listen to whats being recorded"

Normally that's just a setting in windows to configure what you hear, depending on what hardware and flavour of windows you're using..

On the record dialog, click the Advanced tab.

Check "Enable audio input monitoring"

Depending on your audio hardware and buffer settings you will experiance some latency. Adjust your buffer size accordingly to lower the latency.
