Can I load NI's Absynth 4 as a VST plug-in and use ACID PRO 6 as host? Or do I need to load the stand alone version?

Yes, Absynth 4 works as a VST Instrument in ACID.

Are you having problems?

No - I haven't loaded it yet - but I wanted to make sure before I did anything stupid...lol :-)

Thanks for answering so quickly!

OK - loaded it up - fine - except for three things...

(1) after using the midi multi merge - I couldn't seem to load up a separate instance of Absynth through another bus - which meant if I wanted to record another different sound in the same project - and I changed the sound - the first sound I had recorded and saved would change over to the new sound...any way for me to assign a separate bus for each midi instrument sound I want to add to the project? I DID de-select midi multi merge but that didn't seem to work....

(2) not sure how to load my own .wav files into the Absynth4 plug-in module to use the software to change up some of my own sounds....

(3) not sure how to use Absynth4 as a plug in effect - it looks like the right FX files went into the FX plug in folder (cause I see them there) but when I select it and put one into the effects plug in chain it brings up the software plug in module but I'm not sure how to use the software for the effects....as it looks like the same module as the VSTi plug-in....

Also - the ACID PRO 6 version I have is the first one - I DO have ACID PRO 7 - but haven''t loaded it yet. If I load that newer software would these issues be cleared up? And can I have both versions 6 and 7 loaded without causing weird conflicts?

Thanks!

I am not an expert on Absynth by any means.

Absynth is not a multitibral synth - different voices on different MIDI channels - as far as I know. You do need to add multiple instances of Absynth into ACID in order to play different patches from different MIDI tracks.

(1) after using the midi multi merge....

I don't know what "midi multi merge" is. I assume it is a setting in Absynth?

You can add as many instances of Absynth to ACID that you want. with in the limit ACID has of 32 total soft-synth busses. You would then route different MIDI tracks to the instance as you desire.

(2)

I really don't know how to do this. I would recommend reading the Absynth 4 users guide or discuss this on NI's users forums.

(3)

Again, you need to refer to the Absynth documentation or contact NI for assitance with how to use Absynth.

Perhaps an Absynth users here can help out.

Also - the ACID PRO 6 version I have is the first one - I DO have ACID PRO 7 - but haven''t loaded it yet. If I load that newer software would these issues be cleared up? And can I have both versions 6 and 7 loaded without causing weird conflicts?

I believe your issues are with how Absynth works and not ACID.

I have tried a simple test and I can load 5 instances of Absynth, each with a different sound, and route 5 different MIDI tracks to each instance and have it play 5 different sounds.

ACID Pro 7 has many new features and performance enhancements over ACID Pro 6. I recommend that you use it. Makes sure you download and install the lastest version - 7.0c. The most important aspect of ACID 7 that will be of benfit is its ability to spread multiple softsynths across all avaiable CPUs/Cores your system may have. This can significantly improve your performance depending your system.

You can keep both ACID 6 and 7 on your system. Be aware that ACID 7 projects cannot be loaded into ACID 6. So be sure to back up your ACID 6 projects or rename them to indicate they are ACID 7 versions of the ACID 6 project.

2) You have to go into "patch" and load a sampler (in the oscillator section).
Then you'll be able to load your sounds.

3) Absynth is a complex beast - but in short, you add Absynth as "Absynth FX", and turn the sounds from "instruments" into "effects".
This is the simplist way to your getting souds from Absynth as an effects module

Actually no - it's a way to record a midi loop in ACID...but maybe I wasn't doing it right...

But thanks for the heads up to route each midi track to each Absynth instance - I managed to get that aspect straightened out! :-) hell being a midi newbie...LOL....(I wasn't aware that I had to route each track manually so I was thinking the software was doing the routing...my bad).

I have already sent my other questions to NI - thanks so much for all your help!

I see where "patch is" but not sure what you mean by "load a sampler"...do I need more software of some sort?

OK - I see now where the main window has "instruments" and "effects" - for some reason I wasn't seeing that (maybe because I was seeing RED ! LOL)

Thanks - figures I'd pick a complex beast for my first real midi VSTi synth! lol
