9b Activation Snag

Vegas 9a 64bit trial version, W7 ran flawlessly here. And 9b?.... can't tell because 9b install goes infinite loop on serial number input. Says application will now restart, but does not, returning a SN input screen again, and no problem with more than 3 tries. This (purchased) 9b was downloaded to an internet system and then transferred to a video workstation here per usual practice. The expired 9a Trial version was uninstalled before 9b install. Despite this the 9b start request produces "trial has expired, enter serial number here". Enter Sony's emailed 9b SN, but promised restart never happens.

Now a fresh 9b 64 download, a different W7 workstation, 9a Trial version not removed on this one... same problem, no restart after Serial Number entry.

I got the same problem. I got a workstation without internet connection, vista 64. I uninstalled Vegas 9.0a full version. Installed 9.0b. Everything looks ok until I start Vegas. Then it loops into: "Your Vegas pro trial has expired" I put in serialnr and "submit". After I'll put in serialnr and submit this message pops up: "this aplicaton will restart to complete the upgrade prosess" I click ok and then it's go's back again to "Your Vegas pro trial has expired".
I went trough the Clean Uninstall and Reinstall Instructions under http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/kb4289
but same thing happens

Try deleting the registry key that holds the license and authentication information. After doing so, restart the software and it should prompt you to reenter your serial number, and also it will require you to go through the register/activation process again.

After doing this, the registration should be properly set.

If you are familiar with editing your registry, find this key:

Vegas Pro 9 32 Bit on Windows x64 versions:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software\Vegas Pro\9.0\License

Vegas Pro 9 64 Bit on Windows x64 versions:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software\Vegas Pro\9.0\License

Vegas Pro 9 32 Bit on Windows 32 bit versions:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software\Vegas Pro\9.0\License

Find the folder that holds the license key (called License), right-click and delete.

If you are not familiar with editing your registry,
see this information: How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

When running Vegas for the first time after deleting the registry key, you might also want to try these suggestions.
