I'm still struggling to get my BMD card working in V9. I've copied the .dll file from V8 into V9, and although it comes up in the device menu it doesn't see the video or sound.
Has anyone any idea how to work around this problem?
i had a similar problem and posted here in the forums...search the forum for "blackmagic" with "woodenmike" as the user name...the solutions offered worked for me although the problem i have now is that when i preview in the monitor connected to the BM card, Vegas 9 will freeze up fairly regularly and i'm not sure if it has to do with more resources being used up in this version or if there is a compatibility issue with the BM card. I am running in SD with a 32 bit system.
I'm not sure if you know or not, but BMD products weren't even supported in Vegas 8, and barely supported in 7. I'm amazed anyone got it working with 9... The guys at BMD stopped developing Vegas drivers, after Sony stopped providing them with the support they needed... which is very dissapointing, and I've emailed Sony several times about this issue. They need to open up the Vegas architecture to properly support 3rd party hardware. Even the AJA card is only supported by Sony because they've programmed support into Vegas. Which is great, as long as Sony doesn't all of a sudden decide one day they don't want to update the code anymore, and like BMD there's no more support. I've got a $2000 Multibridge sitting here collecting dust...
Vegas needs a serious ground-up re-write. I've been using it since version 4, and 9 is by far the most crash-tastic version to date. I've never had so many corrupt projects, random crashes, lock ups and freezing as I've had with 9.0...add more features, great, but if they don't work who cares. I hate to say it, but Sony is rapidly turning into Adobe.
