Can't edit closely enough

I use Vegas 5, which apparently is no longer supported. I divide my time on audio projects between Vegas 5 (for existing projects) and ACID 7 (which I got because of the midi features.)

The problem I have with Vegas is that on certain projects, I can't seem to edit closely enough. I can't get the cursor to go wherever I want it so that I can split an event. Even when I use the arrow keys, it seems to skip in uniform blocks along the timeline. Unfortunately these blocks of timeline space are larger than are workable to create my edits.

I thought it might be that I needed a higher sampling rate to work with more granular sections, but I'm already recording at 48/24. This doesn't happen with every project.

Any idea why I might be experiencing this difficulty?

you need to turn off "Quantize to Frames" in the Options menu.

And maybe the snap-to functions. (If V5 had that.)

No, it isn't snapping. However, Quantize to Frames might be it. I'll check later. Thanks!
