Subject:Sound Forge 5.0 and 16 bit 44.1 K problem!

Hello
I am a long time SF user, Problem: installed Sound Forge
5.0 and now I can record 24 bit no problem but when I
record in standard 16/44.1 K I get pops consistantly on the
playback, visually I dont see the clicks or pop. I am using
a Digidesign Audiomedia III card with all of the updates.
Funny thing is that it works fine in Sound Forge 4.5 and
Steinberg Wavelab 3.0 and I can record in other programs
and import them into Sound Forge 5.0 and it works fine. So
what is up? Any suggestions?

Hi tyme2edit,

Hmm... I'm not possitive about this, but try reducing the
hardware acceleration for your video card. Or even turning
it off altogether. Right-click on My Computer, choose
Properties, choose Performance, click on the Graphics
button, move the slider towards the left. Click OK to close
both dialog boxes. That might help.

Best,
Scott

Thanks for the response. Unfortunaly, it did not correct
the problem. It seems to be in the actual recording
process only. When I record into another program such as
Wavelab or even Sound Forge 4.5 (no problems). Just when I
use the 5.0. Another thing I have disovered in 5.0 when
using the audio chainer and trying to change the
configurations of the plug-in, when I change from the
presets the software wont save what I want to change. It
does work fine in the individual plug-in config menu.
But anyway,
Thanks

If you go into Options>Preferences>Wave, do you have the
Microsoft Sound Mapper set in the Record drop-down list? If
so, try choosing your actual sound card driver from the
list instead. I don't know if that will fix the problem,
but it's worth a try.

Best,
Scott

Your sound card drivers could also need an update. Check
the manufacturer's website for updated drivers.
