Problem with "Create Tracks From Media Regions"

I'm having a problem with the "Create Tracks From Media Regions" tool (or maybe I'm just not clear on how to use it correctly).

I've ingested an hour-something long live clip into Sound Forge, and then imported that into the CDA Media Pool (so far, so good).

But trying to mark up that long clip into individual tracks is where I run into this issue - I'll highlight an individual song and make a region from it, but then using the "Create Tracks From Media Regions" creates a track from the entire clip vs. the selected region.

After trying several different ways to do this, the only thing that I've found that works is to use the Split tool to divide the large clip into individual songs, then highlight those one at a time and use the "Create Tracks From Media Regions" tool (which works fine when done this way). But that makes for extra work, and it would be great to be able to create tracks just by marking regions and adding them to the track list.

Any ideas? Or maybe the regions need to be marked in the audio editor (i.e. Sound Forge) first before importing the media into CDA?

Yes, you've almost answered your own question...prepare your file in SF first: at the points where you want your tracks to change, first insert markers (type M on your keyboard)...after that, go to Special, Regions List, Markers to Regions...this will divide your entire track into regions...save your file...then open the file in CDA, and do your Create Tracks from Media Regions...this should work fine...just make sure that the first and last regions are actually regions (they won't appear as CD tracks if they are not)...if not, go back to SF, highlight the actual sections that didn't work, and go back to Special, Regions List, Insert Region...and save, of course)...good luck...

Or just do the track marking in CDA straight off - simply position the ccursor and push 'T'. Or hit T while playing.

Brilliant! Could have saved many hours if I'd known that...hmmmm...
