Subject:AC3 encoder 'not loaded' in Vegas and DVDA

In both my Sony Vegas 9.0b and Sony DVD Architect Studio 4.5d, the AC3 encoder is listed as 'not loaded' and does not appear in the 'file type' dialog drop downs. Is that a seperate purchase or should I have it with a standard installation? Information in this forum and other internet sources isn't clear.

If you try to encoding into proprietary coding such as Quicktime without having Quicktime loaded first it will Not work. You must have quicktime installed on your computer first.
But AC-3 is standard encoding and should not be a problem.
On the other hand I think that if you tray to encode 5.1 surround AC3 material in Vegas 8C it will not work. You would need to upgrade to Vegas 9.

Is AC3 encoding part of VMS 9 or only in Vegas Pro?
