No one is gonna shot you down michael, nothing wrong with your question.
FCP works well with quicktime files, so rendering out from Vegas to a
quicktime format is a solution i would offer....Using the Animation or Photo-JPEG
codec.

I know you're wanting to Export an EDL from Vegas then Import to FCP.
(So you can have your timeline in tact, right)

You can try the Various 'Save As' options but I've had the best luck with Edit Protocol Compliant AAF File (.aaf) going to AfterEffects & Premiere Pro.

I haven't had the need to go to FCP though.
I'm interested in your findings & hopefully solution for sure.

There is no easy way to move back and forth between the programs and keep your timeline. Advice from someone who has tried - just start with one and finish with the same one.

AAF would be the logical option, however, the Vegas AAF doesn't often play well with other programs.

I've had no luck with AAF between Vegas and ProTools where I have the ability to import and export AAFs, BUT the big problem you have here is that FCP doesn't import AAFs without a third party plug-in from Automatic Duck which costs around the same price or more than Vegas.

For Audio I use EDL Convert Pro to translate between other NLEs and Vegas but it only supports one video track.

You're best off either finishing in Vegas or rendering out to an intermediate that is readable as well on the mac and working with that footage in FCP. Lots of variables though.

I've had great luck with Avid DNxHD rendered footage from Vegas in FCP. That or rendering out to either uncompressed or animation codec in QT via Vegas.

Point is, you're not going to get your project from Vegas into FCP without enough work that it may be worth finishing in Vegas as has been mentioned before.
