bye bye dolby digital

I am so sad that Vegas Pro 9 has dropped support for MPEG streams that carry Dolby Digital audio.

In VP 8, 8.0a & 8.0b, no problem with an MPEG stream with dd audio.

In VP 8.0c, VP would crash whever a stream with dd audio was dropped on the timeline.

In VP 9, it doesn't even recognize that audio is present in the stream!

So sad, so sad!

Works fine for me in 8.0c (full) and 9.0 (trial)

You could try the trick of renaming *.mpg to *.vob to see if that helps.

I believe that Phil is talking about Transport Streams.

In that case - for me 8.0c & 9.0 just don't recognise the audio (they don't crash). This seems to be a limitation of the Sony m2tsplug.dll (which seems to handle all transport stream input) - presumably introduced as part of the 8.0c bug fixes....

Just re-mux the transport streams to program streams - then they are handled by the Mainconcept plugin instead which doesn't have the limitation.

I noticed this last week on an older project of mine. (I lost some sound fx tracks that I had)

I figured it was a fluke or something I did wrong. Looks like it's Vegas instead.

Wonderfull....guess I gotta do the work around.

It's a damn good thing that this forum exists! I can't imagine using Vegas everyday without all our info and experiences being available online to read.

I must apologize for jumping the gun, on this one.

VP9 (32 bit) WILL recognize and play, without incident, MPEG program streams with Dolby Digital audio.

So, SONY! Why no longer supporting Dolby Digital audio in MPEG transprt streams? Before VP 8.0c, I didn't have to jump thru hoops to drop a transport stream on the timeline!
