No maximizer / limiter audio plugin?

LarsHD wrote on 5/24/2009, 12:20 PM
I look through all the audio oplugins but I don't seem to find maximizer / limiter. I have otehr plugins on my XP 32 install but I'd like to see some Sony Vegas Pro 9 maximizer / limiters that I can set for instance to 100% limit all audio above -0.2 dB.

Mainly for use on the master out stereo bus.

Is there such a plugin in VP9?

Have you tried Wavehammer?

Have you tried any of the Compression options?

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Or just popping on a Vol envelope?

I don't know of any SONY plugins that do this other than the dynamic effects plugin.

WIth that said, I've always been a fan of gVST's stuff. I use his saturation maximizer (with limiter) and gate on most projects.

I mean plugins that do the work like Waves L3, Kjaerhus Maximizer etc etc. I also do music and I'm used to Sonar, Cubase etc. But in my 64 Vista install I only have Vegas so i cvan't access these other audio plugs at the moment. Guess I can install Sonar 8 and then I'll be getting all the Sonar audio plugins available in Vegas Pro 9 again. A good mazimizer / llimiter is really necessary when doing the audio master for the video....

I will repeat what Grazie said: Have you tried Sony Wave Hammer Surround? It is a Compressor/Volume Maximizer. Also Sony Multi-Band Dynamics is a 4 band compressor. These both come with Vegas Pro.

You also might want to take a look at iZotope Ozone 4. It's 32 and 64-bit compatible and is a nice mastering plug-in.

Wave Hammer had the maximizer I was looking for. Thanks a lot for the advice. Yes, Ozone makes good stuff.

I was only looking for something alreday existing in Vegas. On my XP 32 install I have a good selection of VST audio plugins for my music sequencers etc. but on my Vista 64 install I have only Vegas and nothing else. For the time being. Wave hammer is fine for now.

Thanks for all the good advice!

Thanks John. Nice to be heard . . . .

"I was only looking for something alreday existing in Vegas." - And that's why I suggested Wavehammer . .

Interesting, Lars, did you actually read my response? I must have gotten under your RADAR? I must remember that.

Hi Grazie, sorry, yes I sort of missed that first and good suggestion of yours... I was probably too much into my editing work when reading reply. Thanks anyway Grazie!
