I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 RC-1.

I downloaded Shark007's 64-bit Windows 7 Components v1.1.9, installed it, ran x64 Settings Application as the Administrator, clicked FFDShow Video, selected H.264/AVC from the list and switched the decoder from disabled to ffmpeg-mt.

Back in 64-bit Sony Vegas 9, my video track can now be used. I hope this helps others who might have been having the same problem.

I don't see anything like that in the list. I see H.264/AVC but I don't see disabled or ffmpeg-mt. Maybe just a little more detail about where to find that.

Thanks, William

Here are some instructions. Find the x64 Settings Application shortcut, right click it, and select Run as Administrator. Once open, it will look like this.

Now, select FFDshow Video which will open a window that will look like this.

In the row labeled H.264/AVC you click disabled which will give you a drop down of options that look like this.

From this drop down list select ffmpeg-mt. Once that's done the screen should look like this.

Click OK, load Sony Vegas, and (I hope) enjoy!

I have this same issue and was glad to find this thread. I should mention that Vegas Pro 8 32-bit opens my m2t files just fine on this machine (Vista x64). I don't know if this is dependent on my previously having installed any 32-bit codec packs or not.

What is very nonsensical about this is that these m2t files came from firewire capture from a *Sony* HDV camcorder. I'd think that *Sony* Vegas Pro (version 8 or 9, shouldn't matter) should be completely self-contained insofar as opening files captured from *Sony* camcorders.

This "software & hardware from the same company" issue comes up all the time.
The unfortunate reality is that the two divisions rarely if ever talk to each other so I've never expected a Sony camcorder to automatically work with Sony software :-(
