I just tried to drop a few AVCHD .M2TS files from my Canon HG21 camera on to the Vegas Pro 9 project media window, and I get an "unrecognized file" error. What the heck???
64 or 32 bit app?
I had similar with .mov files from 5dMkII worked fine once then reopened and got same error messages. opened fine in32 vegas.
did a shut down and restart and went back to working go figure....
I just got home and installed Vegas Pro 9 on my home workstation which is identical to my work workstation ( I built both PCs ), and my home system has no problem with M2TS files, which is very weird. Both are very new machines that I built about 2 months ago. ( i7 920 CPU with 6GB of matched Corsair DDR3 1600 Mhz RAM on an ASUS P6T Rev 2 motherboard )
The software installed is not identical, but very close to being the same.
It's a bug that was present in 8.1 and SCS didn't think saving us customers time was worth their time, so the bug is still present in Vegas 9 64 bit, I would guess because of the pathetic 32 bit module that handles the files I/O, the dreadful FileIOSurrogate.exe.
The workaround, same as it was in 8.1, is to close Vegas and open it again, then load the project again. It's the price we Vegas users have to pay for working with a 64 bit OS because we are so spoiled that we want to use more than 3 GB of RAM.
