Subject:Any plans for a seperate piano roll view?

This would be nice to have. I never cared for the inline view since I like to work with midi. While Cubase and Sonar are adding features to compete with Ableton, I'd like to see Acid have more features like a piano roll view.

How about right-mouse-button click inside the midi clip and choose 'Clip properties'? Does that give you what you want?

Interestingly enough, this was the only way to edit Midi when ACID 6 came out. There wasn't any inline view. SONY quickly added it when everyone and her uncle screamed for it.

Oops, just noticed, you have to disable inline MIDI editing in order to get to Clip properties.

Yea, but a separate piano roll view *is* there. It's how I work. Only when I need to see multiple parts simultaneously do I bother with inline editing.

Why wuould they ditch the inline for a staff view?
Sonar has both.

So does ACID. No need to drop either one.

Duh! Stupid Me! Nevermind. I would like to have where I can click in the toolbar to open the piano roll.

It would also be nice to *not* have to turn off inline midi editing before being able to open up the piano roll window. That seems like a programming oversight to me. I can't think of any reason why the piano roll window couldn't be opened while inline editing is still active. This could be the reason why lots of folks haven't found the piano roll.

There is no such limitation.

The Clip level Piano Roll can be active at any time. It tracks the actively selected clip if it is open.

If you are in inline editing mode and you want to show the Clip Property, you can right click on the event "bar' and select "Clip Properties".

You can also open the track's Clip Pool and double click on the clip you want to edit in the Piano Roll with out having to go out of in-line editing mode.

You can also open the Clip Properties by typing Ctrl+Alt+3. This is a bindable command, so you can change this using the "Options | Custimize Keyboard..." menu option.

Perhaps I misunderstand what you are saying.

No toolbar button can be exposed.

However you can open the Clip Properties view by typing Ctrl+Alt+3. This will always open to the currently selected clip. (The last seleted clip if multiple clips are selected.)

This is a bindable command, so you can change this using the "Options | Custimize Keyboard..." menu option. It is in the global group of commands as "View.ClipProperties".
