Image file size kept same as original or shrunk?

Curious about something... If I bring a large (bigger than NTSC res) image into DVDA to show on screen (scaled down), does the DVD hold the original sized image (and scale it), or does it create a scaled down version (which it stores on the DVD) and discard the original larger version?

Basically, I'm trying to see if I need to scale all my images down to screen res before importing into DVDA, or if that's redundant...

Thanks

Every image you bring into DVDA (except those you drop into an Extras folder) are re-encoded as video. If it's larger than the project dimensions, it's scaled down first and then encoded. So your original image does not exist on the disc whatsoever.

That said, I would wager that your graphics editing app or batch image processing app probably has a better scaling algorithm since, while DVDA can scale images, that's not really what it was written for.

Hey, thanks again bStro! You're fast with the responses! Much appreciated!

Yup, you're right... I'd be best (as far as quality) to use Photoshop... but I'm dealing with about 200 photos, so I think I may sacrifice the quality for convenience!
