OT: HS students using Sony Vegas

Hi all,

I know I've been somewhat of a stranger to these forums the last year or so, so ... Hey all!

I'm sharing some work that the young Vegas users out there are making. To give you a preface, two years ago I introduced a group of high school sophomores to Sony Vegas. These guys have since formed a media production team that blows my expectations every single time they show off their latest project.

They're seniors now, and two weeks ago they offered me a small part in their high school ministry group's production "Joseph", a three part mini-series (not the musical) consisting of 5 minute videos introducing the group to certain concepts from Joseph in Genesis.

The students wrote and filmed the entire production, and behind the church's highschool amphitheater in an office that probably doubles as a closet they pieced it together in Sony Vegas. It was amazing to see how well they worked together, and how fast they worked in Vegas - I learned a few "new" shortcuts I wished I'd know before. Just about everything from the import to the YouTube export was done in Sony Vegas with the out-of-the-box tools, including the video and audio mastering.

My role? I am the narrator and did the soundtrack. Thanks for letting me share.

I liked what I saw. You and the crew did a good job.

Then I looked away and "watched" it in my mind just listenig to it.
While I'm not a fan of YouTube, I found the audio just as good as the visuals!

A little more sweetening (You using the audio compressor?) with a little more
dynamics you'd have a masterpiece.

Good work.

Hi all,

So here is the second installment. I'd like to post the final episode here too, if that's all right.

And as you may see, I learned that a little creativity and Sony Vegas can do ... Karaoke!

That IS me singing.

hey wait... that's backwards. Part 2 ends where Part 1 begins!

Still like it though. The guy who plays joseph is pretty good.

Safe to assume you're part of the church too or just working with them?

Hi all,

As I said I would do, here is the third and final installment.

This was my favorite piece to score, especially since I got to work with a female vocalist (used in part of the dream sequence and "Dream Come True").

Now the series is over, and again, I'm so impressed with what these students are able to achieve. It was great to be apart of the projects too now. Thank you all very much for watching.
