Subject:DirectX or VST for AP7

What's best?

Reason I'm now asking is I just upgraded to iZotope Ozone 4 from 3 and mistakenly started using the VST version of Ozone and it kept crashing AP7 in a multi-track project doing the simplest of tweaks. I did not have one crash trying the OZ4 demo out (must have been the DX version?) . I then noticed my version of OZ3 was DX so I switched to the DX OZ4 version and things (same project) are running smooth again. Why would the VST version make AP7 crash and the DX not?

So I have other plugins, like Waves, where I have both VST or DX versions. Are we better off using one over the other in Acid?

Is there a general rule here?

I use for the most part vst plugins. I just bought Ozone 4 and after I install and run it I'll post back here my findings dude.

Just remember that you cannot mix direct x and vst Uad plugins. It's really bad.

I don't recommend using UAD with acid at all.

I think that there are those with little to no issue...just not me. I get a blue screen of death every time.

Also don't forget to contact Izotope support about these issues with acid and the vst version of ozone 4 you are having.

I will be too.

I've been contacted by one of the Izotope folks and am going to try helping them figure out what happened with the VST version and my system. :)

I found only one bug so far...

Acid 7.0a
Ozone 4.01

-open acid. [empty]

-add 2 audio tracks.

-add one midi track.

-add guitar rig 3 to both audio tracks. [add any patch per taste]

-add bfd2. [load up any kit and a drum loop to be played over]

-add Ozone 4 to acids master buss. [select a cool patch that enhances the sound to taste]

-make sure that "input monitoring" for the audio tracks are set to "auto" or "on".

-Click the record button.

BUG: No audio can "heard" though you can see it being recorded and the meters registering something is coming in.

Fix:Add Ozone 3 to said setup and all is well.

I'm going to do some more work tomorrow and send them a email.

We're trying to get a crash dump report generated via Dr. Watson, but Acid doesn't show up in Dr. Watson after the crash. Acid will generate an error report and send it to Microsoft though. Anyone know how to capture the report that's sent?
