Subject:VST Sound Change

On Acid 6.0 I am using Native Instruments Kontakt 3, and when I play the instrument within the plugin window it sounds fine but once I paint a midi track it changes the sound of the instrument.
Any Idea on how to fix it?

Is it just that the MIDI track level slider defaults lower ?

Nope

It especially shows up on the piano
It almost sounds as if a new filter has been put on it from when it comes out of the sampler to when it comes out of Acid
