Recording 8 tracks at a time

366mhz Celeron - 256RAM - 15gig 5600rpm HDD dedicated to
music files - Vegas Pro - Gadget Lab Wave 824 A/D interface.

After arming 8 tracks at once and hitting Record, the
counter sputters and skips irratically until it stops
counting, yet the wave windows continue to collect data and
proccess music files. It appears that i do not have enough
horspeower in my PC to record 8 tracks at once yet Gadget
has verified that i do. Has anyone tried to record 8
tracks at once with a similar set up? Any help is
appreciated. thanks in advance.

When I began recording into my old PC (PII 333MHz,256ram, 8Gb 5400rpm
HDD for audio, Cool Edit Pro, GadgetLabs 824), my poor PC froze,
clicked & snapped, gapped, burped and farted if I MENTIONED 6 tracks
at once.

I've since built a new PC just for recording. Recording 8 tracks while
playing back 8 is never a problem even when running effects. Here's
what I have: Asus CUBX MB w/BX chipset, PIII750, 256Mb ram, 20Gb
7200rpm OS HDD, 27Gb 7200rpm removable audio HDD, Matrox 32Mb dual
head video, GadgetLabs 824 interface.

I recommend that you upgrade :)
