... and I am amazed that you have mistaken Acid Forum readers for people who are interested in hearing that.

Please no. Not another anti Acid rant. Has anyone got anything nice to say? About Acid. This is an Acid forum. Not whinge HQ.

Hey, if it wasn't for whining, there would hardly be any posts in this forum. ;-)

Yes that's true. Many words have been written deriding Acid. But i would have thought there are some positive stories too. People making music with Acid. Creating. Earning money. Gathering kudos for their work.

And genosam you didn't have to delete your post. You're free to speak your mind. It's a democracy here i hope.

Positive stories: I just composed and recorded six songs for a pilot TV show, entirely in Acid. Don't need an expensive and complex app like ProTools. Not interested in ProTools. Please keep product announcements, other than new Acid products, off this forum.

Here's a recent Acid experience. I recently completed a video project, about 10 minutes long, which was a dramatic scenario for use in workshops with intellectually disabled people, to teach them protective behaviours in challenging situations.

Having completed the video edit in Vegas I rendered an avi, brought it into Acid and spent a very enjoyable day, literally "painting" the music to go with the various scenes.

Using midi tracks and soft synths, I had various instruments including strings, a harp, some brass, a "threatening" bass guitar to highlight oncoming danger, and it was so easy to play or draw notes to exactly coincide with a particular action.

My clients were delighted.

Hooray. Some positive stories.

I use Acid to record guitar orientated pieces. I use Roger Linn's Adrenalinn pedal for effects. When I'm happy with a piece I email Roger and if he likes it he publishes a link on the Adrenalinn website as a means to demonstrate the power of the pedal.

I just finished this recently:

I'm sure you'll recognise some Acid loops coming in and out. I don't use Acid for midi as yet. Just recording guitar and bass and basic mixing then mixdown in Sound Forge. Too easy.

"Please keep product announcements, other than new Acid products, off this forum."

So you'd prefer to not see announcements of new products/updates that interface with Acid such as Waves, UAD, various plugins, softsynths, controllers, and many more? Or perhaps just those that directly compete with Acid and therefore make you unhappy to know about them?

In contrast to my earlier statement about whining, I can't resist saying something here.

I've been very vocal about how frustrating it has been waiting for Sony Creative to get their finger out and release a new version. I think that of all the things this forum can do, none is more important than to send a message to Sony expressing our feelings about the product.

I think ACID Pro is an amazing tool and I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences with it. But there are several things that need updating - I won't list them all here, I'm sure Sony knows the problems all to well.

Just as importantly, many of us want to know that the tools we use in our music will continue to evolve and keep pace with the state of the art. And in the case of ACID Pro, that need is simply not being met.

So IMHO if people want to point out the numerous cases of competing products that continue to evolve while we still work with a two-year-old release, this helps to point out Sony's continued intransigence in this area.

I say keep 'em coming.

I make music in ACID -- then it is delivered to a studio that uses PRO-Tools, on occassion I import the results into PRO-Tools then give them PT sessions. Just becuase Pro-tools is mentioned does not mean we need to go into offense mode. I am sorry but I can not control what my clients use.

I think ACID and the other Sony Creative Software tools are effective Also the Sony Library content is amazing too (often the best kept secret).

I am into the DAW bashing none-sense. I am more concerned about results!
