Vegas 8 Previews fine, Renders Black HELP!!!!!!!!!

Had this problem before with a giant uncompressed AVI file. Vegas previewed it perfectly, but rendered a black screen. I had to use another program to convert the file before Vegas would render it.

Now I dropped an Xvid file into my timeline. Vegas does a wonderful job of allowing me to edit it and it previews fine. Awesome! Vegas finally uses the codecs on your computer to let you edit anything. WAIT! Now it renders to all black. WHY! Its previewing...the audio renders fine. My titles show up, but no video. ALl the xvid is gone.

What's the deal?

Edit: Apparently, it will not preview on Best of Good, but previews just fine on Preview or Draft. It just shows a black screen on Best or Good. WTF Vegas!?!?!?!

I have the same problem with some quicktime files on my laptop... Pretty annoying..

I started having this problem with some .AVI files compressed with Lagarith. There have been no Vegas updates lately, so I certainly can't blame Vegas for this recent change in behavior.

I also had problems with Vegas 8 rendering to black. Everything worked fine in edit, I could render to mpeg2, I could not render to tape. Always black.

My problem was our computers are bootcamped Macs. Everything but PTT seems to work fine. We ported the project to a PC and it printed to tape normally. I thought it might be a driver issue. Now I see there are others with the same problem.
