Subject:Moving Preferences to New Computer

I installed SF7 on my new computer and migrated the presets successfully from the old machine. But is there a way to transfer the preferences for the work environment to the new machine? I had set up the colors of waves, regions, and markers; toolbars; and other things about the editing environment, and would like to move all that in one fell swoop.

Thanks in advance!

Nothing yet, eh? Must be too simple to warrant a reply.

C'mon, help a brother out!

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way to do this...at least that I'm aware of. I reformat my PC a couple of times a year and after each time, have to "reconfigure" SF9 back to my custom specs. It's a minor incovenience at most, but I do wish Sony would implement a "save customizations" feature in their next release.

We must not be looking in the right place. Every time you open Sound Forge, it looks the same, so those settings are getting saved SOMEWHERE...

I'm not sure how to move *all* preferences, but I recently figured out how to move the presets. I hope this helps:

How to Move SoundForge 8.0 Presets From One Computer to Another

(1) Copy over the following directories:
C:\Program Files\Sony\Sound Forge 8.0\Presets
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sony\Sound Forge\8.0\Presets

(2) Export the following registry keys using regedit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software\Sound Forge\8.0\Presets
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DirectShow\Presets

(3) If the Windows username is changing, you may need to open the resulting reg files in a text editor and do a search and replace.

(4) Copy over the resulting reg files and double click on them to install them.

fieldswn,

why don't you just save the presets with Preset Manager?
