I am starting with an mpg file from Replay. If I look at the source file full screen it looks OK (using either Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic).
When I make a DVD DVArch recompresses it mildly (80% of original).
The result looks like this:

This text is static so interlace should not be a cause of the artifact. The jaggies are consistent throught the entire 120 minutes.
I use Replay mpg files on another machine with DVArch and I get good results, so it is something on this machine which is creating the jaggies when I recompress.
I tried small files that didn't require recompression and there were no artifacts so I believe that DVArch recompression is doing this.
I cannot find any options that refer to the codec or it's params.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance
