One Word: Noise Reduction (or is that two) NR-2 is the tool for what you describe. Audio Studio does not have it however, so it must be purchased separately or with an upgrade to SF-9.

An expander "may" work, especially one with adjustable frequency trigger parameters like the Ultrafunk gate. Otherwise it must be done manually with volume or volume envelopes.

Noisegate might also work, if the breathing noise is not to loud if you don't need to keep the space you could also use the auto trim/crop function.

If you have SF9 (maybe 8 or even much earlier -- I fergits), you have Noise Reduction 2.Use that.

Highlight the sounds you want to remove, then Process|Mute. Or right-click on the audio clip and use Volume Envelope.

I don't want to sound stupid, but where do I find information on Ultrafunk gate? I used Google and www.ultrafunk.com does not appear to produce appropriate results.

Cakewalk bought the ultrafunk plug-ins several years ago.
