I don't know exactly what you are referencing as you did not give any details. But, I have had Vegas to hang on the initializing UI splach screen when I had my camera hooked up via firewire and on before I started Vegas. If I simply turned off the camera, Vegas would resume loading and all was well.

I have been plagued with this behavior since V6. It finally seems to be fixed in V8b, at least I have not seen it since installing V8b. It used to occur with every other invocation.

Spoke (wrote) too soon -- I still have the problem.

It could be a codec problem. I had this problem with Adobe After Effects CS3 (though I've never had it with Vegas). Once I opened up my Codec Control Panel (Ace Mega Codecs) and changed some of the codec settings, the problem went away.

If that solves the problem, then you can open up your codec panel and gradually activate the codecs you deactivated, one at a time, and you'll most likely find your culprit.

If its not a codec problem, then it probably is a hardware problem where something is turned on, like a camera, that is somehow interfering with the start up of Vegas.

Good luck.
