Subject:Piano Sounds!?

Hi Guys,

I am really new to the whole ACID music making thing. I used this program while i was back in college without problem, but that was a few years ago.

I have just got it again and now all of my sound loops sound like pianos. I am sure this has something to do with my Midi settings on this computer but i don't know how to fix it. I can't seem to get anything other than piano noises when i play a preset loop.

Please let me know how to fix this if you can. :(

Maybe you can clarify your question. You say your loops sound like piano, and you mention midi> Are these loops of midi information or audio loops? If audio loops, I would check the BPM settings of the loop and the loop. If the file is not acidized, it may be read by acid at double time or half time. This could cause the pitch differences that would make a lower pitched or higher pitched instrument sound like a piano-like. If it is a midi issue, are you inputting midi information via midi keyboard or inputting via piano roll? If inputting via midi, make sure the instrument you want matches the midi channel. If you are inputting via piano roll, also check that instrument matches channel and also make sure you input notes on right octave. Hope that helps. One way you could test to make sure you midi is working is to import a multi channel midi file. Go to Midiworld.com or some other place that offers free classical or jazz midi files. It should default to the Sony built in DLS synth. If it plays all of the instruments, it is likely one of the problems I listed earlier.
